Města Olomouc a Veenendaal spolupracují už 15 let
V nizozemském Veenendaalu proběhly minulý týden oslavy 15letého partnerství s Olomoucí. Primátor Martin Novotný a jeho veenendaalský kolega Ties Elzenga symbolicky zazvoněním na darovaný zvon ze světoznámé dílny v Brodku u Přerova ohlásili novou etapu spolupráce mezi oběma městy.
Šedesátitisícové moderní město Veenendaal ležící ve východní části Nizozemska v provincii Utrecht přivítalo ve dnech 10. – 14. září padesátičlennou skupinu hostů z Olomouce. Tvořili ji představitelé městské samosprávy a magistrátu, členové tzv. platformy, která spolupráci mezi oběma městy organizuje, a rovněž zástupci nejrůznějších spolků, klubů a organizací, které v průběhu uplynulých 15 let spolupracovaly se svými nizozemskými partnery. S mimořádným zájmem veřejnosti se setkaly dva koncerty Moravské filharmonie v místním divadle De Lampegiet a výstava šesti olomouckých výtvarníků, keramiků a fotografů. Hosté z Olomouce se seznámili s probíhající přestavbou centra města, navštívili místní hasičský sbor a také firmy se zaměření na pracovní zapojení handicapovaných občanů, zúčastnili se i zahájení tradičního kulturního programu Veenendaal Artistiek.
„Charakter našich měst je natolik rozdílný, že takové protipóly se přitahují. Můžeme se proto i nadále vzájemně obohacovat - ať už například v oblasti správy věcí veřejných nebo v oblasti péče o hadnicapované občany a seniory, při budování třeba cyklostezek a také v rámci intenzivních kontaktů mezi našimi zájmovými spolky a kluby,“ řekl primátor Martin Novotný.
Symbolem pokračující spolupráce obou města se staly vzájemně darované městská vlajka a zvon z brodecké dílny Dytrychových. Primátor Martin Novotný a starosta Ties Elzenga společně představili také lípu, které bude vysazena ve zrekonstruovaném centru města jako výraz spolupráce mezi Olomoucí a Veenendaalem.
